What we do

The Quiet Moose is a full-service interior design firm and furniture store based in Petoskey, Michigan with projects ranging all over Northern Michigan and beyond. Our interior designers work closely with our clients on their design process; helping to develop their ideas, translating individual requirements and aspirations into beautiful interiors tailored to suit our client’s unique lifestyles. From conception to completion, The Quiet Moose is recognized for elegance, individuality and remarkable attention to detail throughout — from architectural space planning and materials, custom cabinetry, kitchen and bath design, lighting and furnishings to the last work of art and accessories.

Our typical project scope involves multiple spaces, resulting in a cohesive aesthetic. Early involvement in new construction and renovation planning is appreciated. We enjoy collaborating with architects, builders and landscape architects on behalf of our clients.

We consider it a privilege to be entrusted with the design of our clients’ personal spaces and value the relationships made in the process. While our design philosophy is consistent throughout our work, no two projects will ever look the same. Each is a reflection of the unique architecture, setting, and individuality of our clients.

The home design process

First Contact

Your journey with The Quiet Moose begins as soon as you get in touch by phone or email. A member of our design team will then arrange a free consultation at our showroom to find out about your design space and needs and to introduce you to our company and philosophy. This first conversation is about mutually determining if we would like to work together. We will discuss your project and desired budget, the design process, our fees, and any other questions or concerns you may have.

Survey and Agreement

Once we have agreed to work together, we will meet with you at our showroom to review blueprints or at your home to assess your current interior and discuss what changes and additions you have been considering. If your project is a full home renovation or new build, we will also have a separate meeting with the architectural team or builder. At this point, measurements are made or blueprints are given, and colors and materials are discussed. We’ll use all of this information to draw up a comprehensive briefing document with everything specified to your exact requirements.

Creating the Design

With the brief finalized, we then create your home design proposal, taking into account everything we have learned about your lifestyle and requirements. The proposal includes a spatial plan, which details the proposed layout, and images of furniture, fabrics, accessories and other materials we may recommend; enabling you to gain a complete understanding of how all the elements work together.

Finalizing the Design

When the design proposal is complete, we like to meet with you in person to talk through your design. We welcome your feedback at this stage and will incorporate any changes into your design before ordering.

Order and Delivery

Once you are happy with the design, we’ll place everything on order. Your order will be delivered by The Quiet Moose white glove service; a specially trained team who place your items in your desired location inside your home, unpack and assemble furniture as well as remove all packaging. A member of our team will be at your property on the day of delivery to oversee the installation and dress your home beautifully ensuring a designer’s touch is applied to every detail.

Final Stage

Once the installation is complete, we’ll meet with you for a final run through. We see this as an opportunity to check every detail ensuring it is exactly as you wanted and to wish you many happy years of enjoyment.

Our design team is on hand to offer advice and answer any questions you may have. To arrange your free consultation with one of our designers please do get in touch — we’d love to hear from you.
